I’m taking a stab at YouTube. I’ve been wanting to create video media for a long time, and it’s just time.
I have the equipment, I have the motivation and I happen to actually have the time, at least until next year, so I can get my feet wet.
I’m not “doing YouTube” to get a massive amount of followers. I am doing it for the same reason I am writing this blog, I guess. To create some kind of creative outlet where I can produce stuff that can help guide me. It is like it has always been; writing and producing content for me requires levels of contemplation. And when I do it correctly, it turns into some kind of meditation.
That being said, it seems like it is impossible to find an audience these days without being able to do video. So, in the long term, creating content haphazardly will allow me to do it professionally and with a targeted audience in mind.
I just want to learn how to walk before I start running.
So what will it be about? Just stuff. Just stuff I care about. I won’t be trying to create a niche because I’m doing it for experience, not for a following. That being said, it will probably reflect the stuff I’m currently interested in, such as dieting, spirituality, psychedelics, philosophy, love, lust, shamanism, technology, movies, working out, music, content creation, women, etc. Not exactly niched. If it isn’t of value to anybody else, hopefully, it is for me.
I do also have a bunch of points over at Minds.com, so when I’m starting to feel happy with some of the content, I might promote it over there to see if I can get some feedback.
The first “concept” if you will, will be Navel-gazing with COCPORN, a self-indulgent show made for me only. This means that I don’t have to worry about what other people think. It’s in the name, god damn it. It also means I can talk about pretty much whatever appeals to me in the moment, without having to think about cohesion and audience building at all.
